It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-Sham is Allah's chosen land among His lands; He draws to it the chosen ones among His servants. So whoever leaves al-Sham for another place incurs (Allah's) displeasure, and whoever enters it from another place comes into the shade of (Allah's) mercy."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is wahin (extremely weak) because of 'Ufayr bin Ma'dan; al-Dhahabi called him "halik" (ruined/very weak) in his "Talkhis". Reference: Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Kabir" (7718) (and by his route Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" 1/119) by the route of 'Ali bin Hujr, from al-Walid bin Muslim, with this same chain. Reference and text: Al-Tabarani narrated in "al-Kabir" (7796) and "Musnad al-Shamiyyin" (1341) (and by his route Ibn 'Asakir 1/119), by the route of Isma'il bin 'Ayyash, from 'Abd al-'Aziz bin 'Ubayd Allah (who is Ibn Hamzah bin Suhayb), from al-Qasim bin 'Abd al-Rahman al-Shami, from Abu Umamah, as marfu', with these words: "The choicest part of Allah's earth is al-Sham, and in it are the choicest of His creation and His servants; and a multitude of my Ummah will surely enter Paradise without any reckoning or punishment." Grading: This chain is very weak because of 'Abd al-'Aziz bin 'Ubayd Allah, for he is wahin (extremely weak).
