It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Dajjal has certain known signs: "When the springs dry up, the rivers are drained, the fragrant plants turn yellow, and the tribes of Madhhij and Hamdan move away from Iraq and settle in Qinnasrin, then at that time await the emergence of the Dajjal morning and evening."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: Its chain is "da'if" (weak) due to "idtirab" (inconsistency). The narrator 'Abd Allah bin Salih has a poor memory (sayyi' al-hifz), and he was contradicted by Rishdin bin Sa'd, who himself has a poor memory like him. Rishdin narrated it, as found with Nu'aym bin Hammad in "al-Fitan" (1473), via 'Abd Allah bin Lahi'ah from Abu Qabil (who is Huyayy bin Hani' al-Ma'afiri), who reported it from "Tubay'" (the son of Ka'b al-Ahbar's wife) as his own statement. And Ibn Lahi'ah also has a poor memory. Reference / Source: Nu'aym bin Hammad narrated in "al-Fitan" (1420) in mu'allaq form (without a connected chain) from al-Walid bin Muslim, that Ibn Lahi'ah narrated from Abu Qabil, from 'Abd Allah bin 'Amr, that he said: "Soon (the tribes of) Madhhij and Hamdan will move from Iraq until they settle in Qinnasrin." Note / Clarification: Qinnasrin: a city in al-Sham located near Aleppo (Halab); it was conquered by Abu 'Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) in 17 AH.
