Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: Only manuscript (M) has the words "ra's kulli mi'at sanah" (at the head of every hundred years), with the word "kull" added, whereas this addition is not found in the other manuscripts or in the sources of the takhrij.
Grading: Its chain is "weak" because "Bashir bin al-Muhajir" is alone in narrating it with this wording, and his narration is taken into consideration only in corroborations and supporting reports; moreover, he was contradicted in part of this hadith, as will come.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Bazzar (4420) and al-Ruyani in his "Musnad" (49) via two routes from Ubayd Allah bin Musa, with this same chain. It was also narrated by al-Bukhari in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (2/ 101-102), Ibn Qani' in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" (1/ 75), Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (1262), and Ibn al-Jawzi in "al-Mawdu'at" (1688), via two routes from Bashir bin al-Muhajir.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This narration of Bashir apparently implies that this matter would occur in the first century after the Hijrah, or that it would recur at the head of every hundred years. That is why Ibn al-Jawzi said: "This hadith is false; reality belies it." He transmitted from Ahmad bin Hanbal that he said about Bashir bin al-Muhajir: "He is munkar al-hadith and brings strange reports."
Details of the narration: This same hadith was narrated by al-Fadl bin Musa al-Sinani, from Abd al-Mu'min bin Khalid al-Hanafi, from Aban, from Abd Allah bin Buraydah, from his father, as marfu', with the wording: "The Hour will not be established until Allah is not worshipped on the earth, a hundred years before that." Thus he placed it at the end of time.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabari in "Tahdhib al-Athar" (Musnad of Umar 2/ 829), al-Mustaghfiri in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (142, 143), al-Shajari in his "Amali" (2/ 273), and Ibn Tulun in "al-Ahadith al-Mi'ah" (76).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrator "Aban" has dropped out of al-Tabari's narration alone. Al-Mustaghfiri said that "Aban" is "Aban bin Zarbi", as mentioned with him through a sound chain, but we did not find any biography of Aban bin Zarbi, so he is "majhul". In al-Shajari's narration it reads: "from Aban, meaning Ibn Khalid al-Hanafi", and likewise Ibn Tahir al-Maqdisi counted it so in "Atraf al-Ghara'ib" (1492), as did al-Dhahabi in the biography of Aban in "al-Mizan", and al-Dhahabi said: "This report is munkar." We say: No brother of Abd al-Mu'min bin Khalid al-Hanafi is known among the narrators, so the preponderant view is what came in al-Mustaghfiri's narration (that he is Aban bin Zarbi), and Allah knows best.
Important point: Aban's narration from Ibn Buraydah agrees with the meaning of the preceding hadiths, except for the specification of the period during which Allah will not be worshipped before the Hour is established.
