It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he was with Maslamah bin Mukhallad when he said: "The Hour will be established only upon the worst of creation; they will be worse than the people of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance). They will not call upon Allah for anything except that it will be turned back upon them." While they were engaged in this conversation, Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, and Maslamah said: "O Uqbah! Listen to what Abdullah is saying." Uqbah said: "He knows best. As for me, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'A group of my Ummah will continue to fight upon the command of Allah, prevailing over their enemies; those who oppose them will not be able to harm them, until the Hour comes upon them while they are in that state.'" Then Abdullah said: "Yes (it is so). Then Allah Almighty will send a wind whose scent is like musk and whose touch is like silk. It will not leave any soul in whose heart there is even the weight of a mustard seed of faith except that it will take it. Then only the worst of people will remain, and upon them the Hour will be established.
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: Its chain is "sahih". Reference / Source: It was narrated by Muslim (1924) and Ibn Hibban (6836) via two different routes from Abd Allah bin Wahb, with this same chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): So al-Hakim's inclusion of this hadith in al-Mustadrak (claiming it meets the conditions of the two Shaykhs though they did not record it) is an oversight on his part, may Allah have mercy on him (since it is in Muslim).
