Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All the narrators of this chain are, on the whole, "thiqah", except "Nu'aym bin Hammad", who is "saduq" (truthful) but was prone to errors. He has corroboration in this hadith except for its last piece, namely his saying: "So I interpreted it as...", in which he is alone here.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Daraqutni mentioned this hadith in "al-Ilal" (12/ 2449) and said: "Zirr bin Hubaysh did not meet Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), and no narration of his from him is authentic; the correct form is: from Isa, from someone he did not name, from Anas."
Important point: Al-Ala'i objected to this in "Jami' al-Tahsil" (p. 177), saying: "This is strange, for Zirr bin Hubaysh is one of the senior Tabi'un; he lived in the Jahiliyyah and narrated from Umar, Uthman, Ali, Ibn Mas'ud and the senior Companions (may Allah be pleased with them)." We (the editors) say: As for al-Daraqutni's statement that "the correct narration is from Isa, from someone he did not name, from Anas", we did not find any such narration in the sources available to us.
Reference / Source: This narration of Zirr bin Hubaysh was recorded by Ibn Khuzaymah in his "Sahih" (892), al-Hakim al-Tirmidhi in "Nawadir al-Usul" (768), al-Tahawi in "Mushkil al-Athar" (5762), al-Ajurri in "al-Shari'ah" (940), al-Tabarani in "Musnad al-Shamiyyin" (2087), Abu Nu'aym in "Sifat al-Jannah" (349 - abridged), and Abu Muhammad al-Khallal in "Dhikr man lam yakun indahu illa hadith wahid" (78), via five different routes from Abd Allah bin Wahb, with this same chain.
Details of the narration: All of them reported in it the words: "I did not see for myself any superiority over you except prophethood", making it a statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to his Companions.
Note / Clarification: In the printed edition of "al-Shari'ah", "Zam'ah bin Salih" appears in place of (the narrator) Mu'awiyah bin Salih, which is a corruption.
Details of the narration: Al-Zuhri and others narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed one day, then stood on his pulpit and mentioned the Hour... then he said: "Paradise and Hell were just now shown to me across the width of this wall, and I have never seen the like of this good and evil."
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (20/ 12659, 12820 and 21/ 13289, 13718), al-Bukhari (749, 6362) and Muslim (2359).
