Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8582

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "It is as if I can see a rider who will come down among you and stand between the orphans and widows and the spoils (fay') that came to their forefathers (withholding it from them), and he will say: 'All this wealth is ours.'"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but neither of them recorded it in their books.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: Inconsistency has occurred here in the manuscripts: in (Z) and (B) it reads "al-A'mash wa Abjar" (i.e. two separate names), in (K) "al-A'mash bin Abjar", and (M) contents itself with "al-A'mash" alone. The correct reading is what we have established, and it agrees with "Juz' Mu'ammal". This Ibn Abjar is "Abd al-Malik bin Sa'id bin Hayyan bin Abjar".

Grading: This report is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Awramah is majhul, he is not alone in it, and the narrators above him are, on the whole, thiqah. Sufyan is "al-Thawri".
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Mu'ammal bin Ihab in his "Juz'" (22) from Abd Allah bin al-Walid al-Adani, from Sufyan al-Thawri, with this same chain.
Grading: And al-Adani is saduq (truthful); there is no harm in him.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" 1/ 275 via Jarir bin (Abd) al-Hamid, from al-A'mash alone, in the same way.
Reference / Source: Something similar was narrated by al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (3798) via Anbasah bin Abi Saghirah, from Sufyan al-Thawri, from his father, from al-Rabi' bin Khuthaym, from Hudhayfah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as marfu'.
Grading: This chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Because this Anbasah is unknown, and he contradicted the thiqah narrators by narrating it as marfu', so his narration is munkar. Al-Haythami declared it weak in "Majma' al-Zawa'id" 5/ 240.
