ذِكْرُ حَبْسِ سَيْلٍ تَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ نَارٌ 8416 - أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ كَامِلٍ الْقَاضِي ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْعَوْفِيُّ ، ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ فَارِسٍ ، أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ - ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ السُّلَمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ، قَالَ : " تَخْرُجُ نَارٌ مِنْ حَبْسِ سَيْلٍ تَسِيرُ بِسَيْرٍ بَطِيئَةٍ ، تَكْمُنُ بِاللَّيْلِ وَتَسِيرُ بِالنَّهَارِ ، تَغْدُو وَتَرُوحُ ، يُقَالُ : غَدَتِ النَّارُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فَاغْدُوا ، قَالَتِ النَّارُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فَقِيلُوا ، رَاحَتِ النَّارُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فَرُوحُوا ، مَنْ أَدْرَكَتْهُ أَكَلَتْهُ " .

فحدَّثَناه الشيخ أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أخبرنا العباس بن الفضل الأسفاطي، حدثنا إسماعيل بن أبي أويس، حدثنا عَباية بن بكر بن أبي ليلى المُزَني، عن إبراهيم بن إسماعيل بن مُجمِّع، عن عبد الله بن أبي بكر بن عمرو بن حزم، عن أبيه قال: حدثني أبو البَدَّاح بن عاصم الأنصاري، عن أبيه أنه قال: سألنا رسول الله ﷺ حِدْثانَ ما قَدِمَ، فقال: "أين حِبْسُ سَيَل؟ " قلنا: لا ندري، فمرَّ بي رجلٌ من بني سُلَيم، فقلتُ: من أين جئتَ؟ فقال: من حِبْس سَيَل، فدعوتُ بنعلي، فانحدرت إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقلت: يا رسول الله، إِنَّكَ سألتنا عن حِبْس سَيَل، وإنَّه لم يكن لنا به عِلمٌ، وإنه مرَّ بي هذا الرجل فسألته، فزَعَمَ أنَّ به أهله، فسأله رسول الله ﷺ فقال: "أين أهلك؟ " قال: بحبس سيل، فقال: "أخِّرْ أهلك، فإنه يُوشِكُ أن تخرج منه نار تضيء أعناق الإبل ببصرى" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. وأما حديث أبي هريرة:

Sayyiduna Abu al-Baddah bin Asim al-Ansari narrates from his father that he said: Shortly after his arrival (in Madinah), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked us: "Where is Hibs Sayal?" We said: We do not know. Then a man from the tribe of Banu Sulaym passed by me, and I asked: "Where have you come from?" He said: From Hibs Sayal. I immediately called for my sandals and hurried down to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! You asked us about Hibs Sayal and we did not know about it; now this man has passed by me and he says that his family lives there. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "Where is your family?" He said: In Hibs Sayal. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Move your family away from there, for soon a fire will come out from there which will light up the necks of the camels in Busra."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف لضعف إبراهيم بن إسماعيل بن مجمع وجهالة عباية بن بكر، وقال الذهبي في "التلخيص": منكر وإبراهيم ضعيف وإسماعيل متكلم فيه.
Grading: Its chain is weak because of the weakness of Ibrahim bin Isma'il bin Mujammi' and the unknown status of Abayah bin Bakr.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis": It is munkar; Ibrahim is weak and Isma'il has been criticised.
وأخرجه ابن قانع في "معجم الصحابة" 2/ 295 - 296، والطبراني في "الكبير" 17/ (458)، والمستغفري في "دلائل النبوة" (323) من طريقين عن إسماعيل بن أبي أويس، بهذا الإسناد. ووقع في المطبوع من الطبراني سقط في الإسناد يستدرك من هنا.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Qani' in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" 2/ 295-296, by al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" 17/ (458), and by al-Mustaghfiri in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (323), via two routes from Isma'il bin Abi Uways, with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: In the printed edition of al-Tabarani part of the chain has dropped out, and it can be restored from here.
