Rafi' bin Bishr al-Sulami narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A fire will come out from Hibs Sayal which will move at a very slow pace. It will halt by night and move by day; it will travel morning and evening. It will be called out: 'O people! The fire has set out in the morning, so you too set out; the fire has stopped for its midday rest, so you too take your midday rest; the fire has set out in the evening, so you too set out in the evening.' Whoever it overtakes, it will devour."

Hadith Takhrij«
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In sources other than the author (al-Hakim) the wording is: "sayr bati'at al-ibil" (the slow pace of camels).
Grading: Its chain is weak. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Sa'd al-Awfi is not very strong, but he has a corroboration. Abd al-Hamid bin Ja'far (al-Ansari al-Madani) is among the thiqah narrators, except that he sometimes erred, as Ibn Hibban said in "al-Thiqat". Moreover, he was inconsistent in the chain of this hadith: Uthman bin Umar narrated it from him (as with the author (al-Hakim), in Ahmad's "al-Musnad" 24/ (15658), Ibn Hibban (6840) and others) making it his narration from Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Ali bin al-Husayn, who is thiqah; whereas Abu Asim al-Nabil narrated it from him (in al-Bukhari's "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" 2/ 131-132 and al-Tabarani's "al-Kabir" (1229)) making it his narration from Isa bin Ali al-Ansari, from Rafi', from his father. This Isa is unknown, but Abu Asim (al-Dahhak bin Makhlad) is more trustworthy and more precise than Uthman bin Umar, so his narration is the preserved one. As for this Rafi' al-Sulami, al-Dhahabi declared him unknown in "al-Talkhis", while al-Haythami was lenient in "Majma' al-Zawa'id" 8/ 12 and declared him thiqah! (8861). Note / Clarification: See the hadith of Abd Allah bin Amr that will come later under numbers (8620) and (8861).
(8571). Note / Clarification: This is the same hadith that has passed under number (8571).
