أخبرنا أبو عبد الله الصَّفّار، حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم بن أُورمة، حدثنا الحسين بن حفص، حدثنا سفيان، عن الأعمش، عن خَيْثمة، عن عبد الله بن عمرو (2) قال: يأتي على الناس زمانٌ يجتمعون في المساجد ليس فيهم مؤمنٌ (3).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد على شرط الشيخين، ولم يخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "A time will come upon the people when they will gather (in large numbers) in the mosques, yet not a single one of them will be a believer."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) تحرّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: عبد الله بن عُمر، بإسقاط الواو، والتصويب من "إتحاف المهرة" (11659) ومصادر التخريج.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name has been corrupted, through the dropping of the waw, into "Abd Allah bin Umar" (whereas he is Abd Allah bin Amr bin al-As); it has been corrected from "Ithaf al-Maharah" (11659) and the sources of the takhrij.
(3) خبر صحيح، محمد بن إبراهيم - وإن كان مجهولًا - لم ينفرد به، ومن فوقه ثقات في الجملة. سفيان: هو الثّوري، وخيثمة: هو ابن عبد الرحمن الجعفي.
Grading: This report is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although Muhammad bin Ibrahim is majhul, he is not alone in narrating it, and the narrators above him are, on the whole, thiqah. Sufyan is "al-Thawri", and Khaythamah is "Ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Ju'fi".
ورواه عن سفيان الثوري وكيع في "الزهد" (271)، ومن طريقه الخلال في "السنة" (1308)، والآجري في "الشريعة" (236). وهذا إسناد صحيح. وزاد فيه الخلال ما سيأتي عند المصنف برقم (8619).
Reference / Source: It was narrated from Sufyan al-Thawri by Waki' in "al-Zuhd" (271), and through his route by al-Khallal in "al-Sunnah" (1308) and al-Ajurri in "al-Shari'ah" (236). This chain is sahih.
Details of the narration: Al-Khallal added to it the wording that will come later with the author (al-Hakim) under number (8619).
ورواه عن سفيان أيضًا خالد بن عبد الرحمن الخراساني - وهو صدوق حسن الحديث - عند الطحاوي في "مشكل الآثار" 2/ 172.

وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة في "مصنفه" 11/ 23 و 15/ 176، وجعفر الفريابي في "صفة النفاق" (106 - 108)، والآجري (237) و (238) من طريقين آخرين عن الأعمش، به.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah in his "Musannaf" 11/ 23 and 15/ 176, by Ja'far al-Firyabi in "Sifat al-Nifaq" (106-108), and by al-Ajurri (237) and (238), via two other routes from al-A'mash, in the same way.
وقد روي نحوه في المرفوع، فقد أخرج أبو نعيم في "صفة النفاق" (109) من حديث حذيفة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "يوشك أن يصلّوا في آخر الزمان في مساجدهم، فلا يكون فيهم مؤمن" قلت: يا رسول الله، ويكون فيهم منافقون؟ قال: "نعم، أظهرُ من اليوم فيكم". لكن إسناده ضعيف.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A similar report has also been narrated as marfu': Abu Nu'aym narrated in "Sifat al-Nifaq" (109) the hadith of Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon, at the end of time, people will pray in their mosques, yet there will be no (true) believer among them." I said: O Messenger of Allah! Will there be hypocrites among them? He said: "Yes, more apparent among you than they are today." But its chain is weak.
