It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon a time will come upon people in which a man will be made to choose between helplessness and sinfulness. So whoever among you lives to see that time should prefer 'ajz (helplessness) over fujur (sinfulness)."

Grading: Its chain is weak and shadh. Technical note / Defect ('illah): The reason is that Abbad bin al-Awwam contradicted a group of the trustworthy students of Dawud bin Abi Hind in naming the shaykh, as explained in the previous hadith. Moreover, this Sa'id bin Abi Jubayrah is known only in this hadith with the author (al-Hakim), and we did not find a biography of him. In this same tier of Dawud's shaykhs there is a "Sa'id bin Abi Khayrah", but he did not meet Abu Hurayrah and does not narrate from him except through the intermediary of al-Hasan al-Basri, and his being declared trustworthy is not reported from anyone except Ibn Hibban.
