Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 852

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man praying alone and said: "Is there no one who will give charity to this man and pray along with him?"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. This hadith is the foundational evidence for establishing a second congregation in mosques.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (2) Its chain is sahih.
Technical note: Wuhayb refers to Ibn Khalid, Sulayman al-Aswad refers to Abu Muhammad al-Naji, and Abu al-Mutawakkil al-Naji refers to Ali bin Dawud.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (574) narrated it from Musa bin Isma'il.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (18/11613) and Ibn Hibban (2397) narrated it by two routes from Wuhayb.
Reference / Source: Ahmad and al-Tirmidhi (220) narrated it by two routes from Sulayman al-Naji. Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan".

Technical note / Defect ('illah): (3) This is an error of al-Hakim: Sulayman bin Suhaym is from Madinah, and Abu al-Mutawakkil heard nothing from him. As for "Sulayman al-Aswad", no one other than Ibn Hibban mentioned his father's name; he is a narrator from Basra.
