أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الصَّفّار، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن إبراهيم بن أُورْمَة (3)، حَدَّثَنَا الحسين بن حفص عن سفيان الثَّوري، عن الأعمش، عن عُمارة بن عُمير، عن حُذَيفة قال: يأتي عليكم زمانٌ لا يَنجُو فِيه إِلَّا مَن دعا دعاءَ الغَرَق (4). هذا إسناد صحيح على شرط الشيخين ولم يخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "A time will come upon you in which no one will be saved except the one who supplicates earnestly, as a drowning person supplicates."
This chain is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but the two of them did not record it in their books.

Note / Clarification: In manuscripts (K) and (M) the name is like this, while in manuscripts (Z) and (B) it is "Arumah". See the commentary on it under hadith number (8499).
(4) خبر صحيح، وهذا إسناد ضعيف، محمد بن إبراهيم مجهول لا يعرف، وقد توبع، ومن فوقه ثقات في الجملة، وعمارة بن عمير لا يروي عن حذيفة، بينهما فيه أبو عمار الهمداني كما سلف عند المصنف برقم (1890).
Grading: This report is "sahih", but this chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Ibrahim is an unknown (majhul) narrator who is not known; however, he has been corroborated. The narrators above him are, overall, thiqah. Moreover, 'Umarah bin 'Umayr does not narrate (directly) from Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him); between them is the intermediary "Abu 'Ammar al-Hamdani", as has passed with the author (al-Hakim) under number (1890).
وبذكر الواسطة أخرجه أبو عبد الله الجمال في "فوائده" (20) عن أبي عبد الله الكسائي، عن محمد بن إبراهيم بن أبان الجيراني، عن الحسين بن حفص، به.
Reference / Source: With mention of this intermediary, Abu 'Abd Allah al-Jammal narrated it in his "Fawa'id" (20) from Abu 'Abd Allah al-Kisa'i, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Aban al-Jirani, from al-Husayn bin Hafs, with the same chain.
