حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب الحافظ، حدثنا يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى، حدثنا مُسدَّد، حدثنا يحيى - يعني ابن سعيد - عن ابن أبي ذِئْب، عن عبد الرحمن بن مِهْران، عن عبد الرحمن بن سعد، عن أبي هريرة، عن النبي ﷺ قال: "الأبعدُ فالأبعدُ من المسجد أعظمُ أجرًا" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح رواته مدنيُّون، ويحيى بن سعيد: هو الإمامُ في انتقاد الرجال، ولم يُخرجاه إذ لم يُرْوَ بغير هذا الإسناد.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The farther a person's home is from the mosque, the greater his reward."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) and all its narrators are Madinans. Imam al-Hakim says that the two Shaykhs did not take it because it is narrated only through this single chain.

(1) حسن لغيره، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لجهالة عبد الرحمن بن مهران.
Grading: (1) It is "hasan li-ghayrihi", but this chain is da'if because Abd al-Rahman bin Mihran is majhul (unknown).
وأخرجه أبو داود (556) عن مسدَّد، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (556) narrated it from Musaddad, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 15/ (9531) عن يحيى بن سعيد - وهو القطان - به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (15/9531) narrated it from Yahya bin Sa'id al-Qattan.
وأخرجه أحمد أيضًا 14/ (8618)، وابن ماجه (782) من طريقين عن ابن أبي ذئب، به.

وفي فضل كثرة الخُطا إلى المساجد لبعد المنزل انظر حديث أنس عند البخاري (655) و (656)، وحديث جابر عند مسلم (664) و (665)، وحديث أُبي بن كعب عنده أيضًا (663).
General principle: For the virtue of taking many steps to the mosque, see the hadiths of Anas (al-Bukhari 655), Jabir (Muslim 664) and Ubayy bin Ka'b (Muslim 663).
