(1). It is narrated from Yahya bin Abd al-Rahman bin Hatib that a group of believing women gathered with the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). One of them said: By Allah, Allah will never punish me, for I gave my pledge to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that I would not associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor kill my children, nor bring forth a slander that I have invented between my hands and my feet, nor disobey him in anything good, and I have fulfilled all of it. The narrator said: When she returned to her house, she was visited in her dream, and it was said: Are you the one who swears by Allah that He will not punish you? Then what about your involving yourself in matters that do not concern you, and your withholding what does not make you independent (of need)? She came back to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: In my dream I was told such and such, and I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) This hadith is sahih, but this chain is "very weak". Technical note / Defect ('illah): "Mas'adah bin al-Yasa'" is matruk al-hadith, and Abu Dawud accused him of lying. But this hadith is authentically established from Abd Allah bin Awn through routes other than Mas'adah's, which make this route of Mas'adah unnecessary.
Reference / Source: Thus Ahmad (39/23787), al-Bukhari (3813, 7014) and Muslim (2484/148) narrated it via various routes from Ibn Awn with this same chain. Details of the narration: And they stated that the man who saw the dream was "Abd Allah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him)".
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (7010) and Muslim (2484/149) narrated something similar via Qurrah bin Khalid, from Ibn Sirin.
Important point: This hadith has already passed with the author under no. (5864) in the narration of Kharashah bin al-Hurr from Abd Allah bin Salam.
Note / Clarification: (2) The manuscripts have "sahih on the condition of the two Shaykhs", but the rest of the statement shows that this is an error in the old manuscripts. Perhaps the correct reading lacks the phrase "on the condition of the two Shaykhs", so that the statement makes sense, and Allah knows best.
Grading: (1) This report is "hasan", but this chain is "very weak" like the previous one because of Mas'adah bin al-Yasa'. Technical note / Defect ('illah): However, Mas'adah is not alone in narrating it, since Hammad bin Salamah also narrated it from Muhammad bin Amr, in Abu Dawud's "al-Zuhd" (339). Its chain (the one in Abu Dawud) is "hasan" because of Muhammad bin Amr, but it has the form of "irsal" (it appears disconnected), since it is unlikely that Yahya (bin Sa'id) was present at the incident with the women.
Reference / Source: Ibn Wahb narrated it in "al-Jami'" (421 - Abu al-Khayr) from Usamah bin Zayd al-Laythi, that he heard Muhammad bin Ka'b al-Qurazi relate: A woman said in the presence of A'ishah … (and he mentioned it). Grading: This chain is also "hasan", but it too carries the suspicion of irsal, as we have explained, and Allah knows best.
Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym in "Hilyat al-Awliya'" (6/329), and al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (4655) and "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (7/30), narrated something similar via two routes from Malik bin Anas, from Yahya bin Sa'id. In al-Bayhaqi, the narration of Yahya bin Bukayr from Malik adds "from Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman": that a woman … (and he mentioned it). Grading: Its narrators are trustworthy, but it too has the form of "irsal".
