It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the time of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah) there was a woman who was a prostitute. A man passed by her, reached out his hand towards her and flirted with her. The woman said: "Stop! Allah Almighty has done away with polytheism and brought Islam." So the man left her, turned his back and walked away, but he kept turning to look at her until (because his attention was diverted) his face struck a wall. The narrator said: The man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned the incident to him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are a servant for whom Allah has willed good. Indeed, when Allah wills good for a servant, He hastens the punishment of his sin for him in this very world; and when He wills evil for a servant, He withholds the punishment of his sin (in this world) until he is given his full recompense for it on the Day of Resurrection, as though he were a burden-bearing donkey."
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (its chain is authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
(1307). Grading: Its isnad is 'sahih'. Reference / Source: This narration passed earlier as number (1307). Note / Clarification: The words "ka-annahu 'ayr" mean: as though his sins were like "'Ayr", and "'Ayr" is the name of a well-known mountain in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah.
