Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the Fajr prayer (and the same incident took place).
Imam al-Hakim says that the imams of hadith, Yahya bin Ma'in, Ali bin al-Madini, Muhammad bin Yahya (al-Dhuhli) and others, have judged this hadith to be sahih (authentic).
Yahya bin Ma'in said: This hadith of Abu Ishaq, from Abu Basir, from Ubayy bin Ka'b, is how Zuhayr bin Mu'awiyah narrates it, while Shu'bah says: from Abu Ishaq, from Abdullah bin Abi Basir and from his father, from Ubayy bin Ka'b. The authoritative version is that of Shu'bah, for he is more reliable than Zuhayr.
Imam Ali bin al-Madini, regarding this report of Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked after the Fajr prayer, "Is so-and-so present?", says that although there has been discussion about the narrators in its chain, in my view this hadith is sahih (authentic).
According to the research of Imam Ali bin al-Madini, Abu Ishaq, the central narrator of this hadith, heard directly from both Abdullah bin Abi Basir and his father Abu Basir, so there is no break in the chain.
Imam Muhammad bin Yahya says that all the various chains of this hadith are preserved and sound.
Imam al-Hakim says that through these statements of the eminent imams of hadith, the authenticity of this hadith has been fully established, while the two Shaykhs did not include it in their books only because there appeared to be a discrepancy in some of the names in its chain.
