Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8215

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I gave my mother something in charity, then she died and that charity has returned to me (as inheritance). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your reward is established, and your charity has come back to you (in the form of inheritance)."

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is hasan.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (38/ 23032), Muslim (1149), Abu Dawud (1656, 2877, 3309), al-Tirmidhi (667) and al-Nasa'i (6283) narrated it in full and in brief via routes from 'Abdullah bin 'Ata' with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: The author will present the full narration in the next hadith. Al-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is hasan sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Abd al-Malik bin Abi Sulayman differed [in Ahmad (38/ 22956), Muslim (1149) and al-Nasa'i (6280)]; he narrated it from 'Abdullah bin 'Ata', from Sulayman bin Buraydah, from his father. So he named his brother "Sulayman" in place of 'Abdullah bin Buraydah. Al-Nasa'i said after it: "This is a mistake; the correct one is 'Abdullah bin Buraydah."

Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts (the name) is "'Abd Rabb", which is wrong.
