Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8170

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: Something which you will find neither in the Book of Allah nor in an explicit ruling of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), but you will find it among all the people (in their practice), is this: for the daughter is half (1/2), and for the sister is also half (1/2).
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The report is sahih, and this chain has softness (lin). Mus'ab bin 'Abd Allah (Ibn al-Zibriqan): Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat" (7/479) and cited this report for him, and he did not mention anyone narrating from him other than Ibn 'Uyaynah; however, he has been corroborated.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi 'Umar al-'Adani recorded it in his "Musnad" (as in "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" 1538), and likewise Ibn Hazm in "al-Muhalla" (9/257) without a full chain (ta'liqan) through the route of 'Ali bin al-Madini; both of them (Ibn Abi 'Umar and Ibn al-Madini) from Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah. It will come at length with a sahih chain at no. (8178).
