Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 815

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever hears the caller (the mu'adhdhin), and no excuse prevents him from going (to the mosque), there is no (complete) prayer for him." The Companions asked: "What is an excuse?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fear or illness."
