It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "True knowledge is of three kinds, and whatever is besides that is extra: a verse that is decisive (muhkam), or a Sunnah that is established, or an obligatory share (the science of inheritance) that is just and equitable."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is weak due to the weakness of 'Abd al-Rahman bin Ziyad al-Ma'afiri and 'Abd al-Rahman bin Rafi' al-Tanukhi. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Dhahabi also graded it weak in "al-Talkhis". Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (2885) recorded it from Ahmad bin 'Amr bin al-Sarh, from 'Abd Allah bin Wahb, with this chain. Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (54) recorded it through the route of Rishdin bin Sa'd and Ja'far bin 'Awn, both of them from 'Abd al-Rahman bin Ziyad.
