Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its weakness is due to Abd al-Rahman bin Ziyad (Ibn An'um al-Ifriqi), and on this basis al-Dhahabi declared it defective in "al-Talkhis". Identification of the narrators: 1. Abu al-Muwajjih is Muhammad bin 'Amr al-Fazari. 2. 'Abdan is Abdullah bin 'Uthman al-Marwazi ('Abdan is his nickname). 3. Abdullah is Abdullah bin al-Mubarak.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (9730) from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim, with this same chain.
Reference / Source: This hadith is in Ibn al-Mubarak's "al-Zuhd" (599), and through his route it was recorded by 'Abd bin Humayd (347), Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" (8/ 185), Abu al-Qasim bin Bishran in "al-Amali" (1482), al-Quda'i in "Musnad al-Shihab" (150), al-Bayhaqi in "al-Shu'ab" (9418) and Abu Muhammad al-Baghawi in "Sharh al-Sunnah" (1454).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Nu'aym said: It is "gharib" from the hadith of Abdullah bin 'Amr; no one narrated it from him except al-Hubuli.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also a report from Jabir bin Abdullah in al-Daraqutni (as cited in Ibn Hajar's "al-Ghara'ib al-Multaqatah" 2607), and through his route Ibn al-Jawzi recorded it in "al-'Ilal al-Mutanahiyah" (1480).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): After it Ibn al-Jawzi said: Al-Qasim bin Bahram is alone in narrating it. Ibn Hibban said: It is not permissible to use him as proof in any circumstance. We say: Al-Daraqutni called him "matruk", and Ibn 'Adi mentioned him in "al-Kamil" (7/ 294) by his kunyah "Abu Hamdan" and said: He is a "kadhdhab" (liar). Also in its chain are narrators whom we do not know.
