أخبرنا أبو أحمد بكر بن محمد الصَّيرَفي بمَرْو، حدثنا عبد الصمد بن الفضل، حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد المُقرئ، حدثنا حَيْوة، عن بكر بن عمرو، عن عبد الله بن هُبيرة، عن أبي تَميم (1) الجَيْشاني، عن عمر بن الخطاب، أنَّ رسولَ الله ﷺ قال: "لو أنكم توكَّلتُم على الله حقَّ توكُّلِه، لَرزقَكم كما يرزُقُ الطيرَ، تغدو خِماصًا، وتَرُوحُ بِطانًا (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you were to rely upon Allah Almighty as He truly deserves to be relied upon, He would provide for you just as He provides for the birds: they go out in the morning hungry and return in the evening with full stomachs."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: تميمة.
Clarification: In the manuscripts this name was distorted into "Tamimah".
(2) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل بكر بن عمرو - وهو المعافري - وقد توبع.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" because of Bakr bin 'Amr (al-Ma'afiri), and he has been corroborated.
حيوة: هو ابن شريح المصري، وأبو تميم الجيشاني هو عبد الله بن مالك بن أبي الأسحم.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (The narrator) Haywah is Ibn Shurayh al-Misri. Abu Tamim al-Jayshani is Abdullah bin Malik bin Abi al-Ashamm.
وأخرجه أحمد 1 / (205)، وابن حبان (730) من طريق أبي عبد الرحمن عبد الله بن يزيد المقرئ، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (1/ 205) and Ibn Hibban (730) recorded it via Abu Abd al-Rahman Abdullah bin Yazid al-Muqri', with this same chain.
وأخرجه الترمذي (2344)، والنسائي (11805) من طريق عبد الله بن المبارك، عن حيوة بن شريح، به. وقال الترمذي حديث حسن صحيح، لا نعرفه إلَّا من هذا الوجه.
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (2344) and al-Nasa'i (11805) recorded it via Abdullah bin al-Mubarak, from Haywah bin Shurayh.
Grading: Al-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is hasan sahih; we know it only from this route.
وأخرجه أحمد (370) و (373)، وابن ماجه (4164) من طريق ابن لهيعة، عن عبد الله بن هُبيرة به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (370 and 373) and Ibn Majah (4164) recorded it via Ibn Lahi'ah, from Abdullah bin Hubayrah.
