It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was saying on the pulpit: By Allah, I have never seen a people more desirous than you of the things from which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kept himself detached. You desire the world, whereas the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kept away from it. By Allah, three days never passed over the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in which what he had exceeded his needs and obligations.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
