حدثنا أبو العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن عفّان، حدثنا زيد بن الحُبَاب، حدثنا سفيان الثَّوري، عن المغيرة الخُراساني، عن الرَّبيع بن أنس، عن أبي العاليَة، عن أُبيِّ بن كعب، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "بَشِّرْ هذه الأمَّةَ بالسَّناءِ والرِّفعةِ والنَّصرِ والتَّمكينِ في الأرض، ومن عَمِلَ منهم عملَ الآخرةِ للدنيا لم يكن له في الآخرة نصيبٌ" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give this Ummah the glad tidings of eminence, exaltation, victory and dominance and authority in the land. And (remember that) whoever among them does a deed of the Hereafter for (the sake of gaining) the world will have no share in the Hereafter."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده قوي المغيرة الخراساني هو المغيرة بن مسلم القسملي، وأبو العالية: هو رُفيع بن مِهْران الرِّياحي.

Note / Clarification: al-Mughirah al-Khurasani (in the chain) refers to "al-Mughirah bin Muslim al-Qasmali", and Abu al-'Aliyah refers to "Rufay' bin Mihran al-Riyahi".
وأخرجه أحمد 35/ (21220)، وابنه عبد الله في زياداته عليه (21221) و (21222) من طرق عن سفيان الثوري، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (35/21220), and his son 'Abd Allah in his additions to it (21221 and 21222), narrated it through various routes from Sufyan al-Thawri, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد (21223)، وابن حبان (405) من طريق عبد العزيز بن مسلم القسملي أخي المغيرة، عن الربيع بن أنس، به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (21223) and Ibn Hibban (405) narrated it through 'Abd al-'Aziz bin Muslim al-Qasmali (the brother of al-Mughirah), from al-Rabi' bin Anas, with this same chain.
وأخرجه عبد الله بن أحمد (21224) من طريق قبيصة بن عقبة عن سفيان الثوري، عن أيوب السختياني، عن أبي العالية به فجعل أيوب مكان المغيرة وهذا الإسناد أخطأ فيه قبيصة على سفيان الثوري؛ قال أبو حاتم الرازي كما في (العلل" (917): هذا خطأ، أخطأ فيه قبيصة، وقد روى هذا الحديث جماعة من الحفاظ فقالوا عن الثوري عن المغيرة بن مسلم عن الربيع بن أنس عن أبي العالية عن أبي عن النبيِّ ﷺ. قلنا: وقد نصَّ بعض أهل العلم على أن لقبيصة بعض الأوهام في روايته عن سفيان الثوري، وعليه فلا تُعتبَر هذه متابعة للربيع كما ظنَّ بعض أهل العلم.
Reference / Source: 'Abd Allah bin Ahmad (21224) narrated it through Qabisah bin 'Uqbah, from Sufyan al-Thawri, from Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani, from Abu al-'Aliyah; thus he put Ayyub in place of al-Mughirah (in the chain),
Technical note / Defect ('illah): and in this chain Qabisah made an error in narrating from Sufyan al-Thawri. Abu Hatim al-Razi said, as in "al-'Ilal" (917): This is an error committed by Qabisah, whereas a group of huffaz narrated this hadith and said: from al-Thawri, from al-Mughirah bin Muslim, from al-Rabi' bin Anas, from Abu al-'Aliyah, from Ubayy, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We say: some scholars have stated explicitly that Qabisah had some errors (awham) in his narration from Sufyan al-Thawri, and on this basis it will not be counted as a corroboration (mutaba'ah) of al-Rabi', as some scholars supposed.
