Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8057

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever seeks the reward that is with Allah, the sky becomes his shade and the earth his bed. He does not worry about any worldly matter; he does not grow crops yet he eats bread, he does not plant trees yet he eats fruit. All this is due to his reliance on Allah Almighty and his seeking of His pleasure. So Allah Almighty makes the seven heavens and the seven earths guarantors of his provision; they toil for his provision and bring it to him by lawful means, and he receives his provision in full with Allah without any reckoning, until death comes to him."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration through the Syrian narrators, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name has been distorted into "'Umar".

Grading: Its chain is extremely weak (wahin) and its text is "munkar",
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibn Hibban said in "al-Majruhin" (1/112): Ibrahim bin 'Amr bin Bakr al-Saksaki narrates from his father fabricated (mawdu') things that are not known from his father's hadith, and his father too is "nothing" (unreliable) in hadith; so I do not know whether he (the son) is the one who wronged his father, or whether it was his father who narrated these fabrications specially to him.
Details of the narration: Then he (Ibn Hibban) cited this hadith via Muhammad bin al-Hasan bin Qutaybah al-'Asqalani from Ibrahim al-Saksaki, with this same chain, in a lengthy form, and then said: Although 'Abd al-'Aziz and 'Amr bin Bakr are "nothing" in hadith, this (fabricated narration) is not their doing; rather it is something in which Ibrahim bin 'Amr is alone, and it is the work of his own hands,
Important point: because this is not the speech of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), nor of Ibn 'Umar, nor of Nafi'; rather it is from the speech of (the Successor) al-Hasan al-Basri.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the entry on 'Amr bin Bakr (2/78-79) he also said: He narrates from thiqah narrators such as Ibrahim bin Abi 'Ablah, Ibn Jurayj and others "awabid" (outlandish reports) and "tammat" (calamitous reports), about which no one whose craft is hadith would doubt that they are fabricated or reversed (maqlub); it is not permissible to use him as proof. And Ibn 'Adi said: He has "munkar" hadiths.
Grading: Al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis": It is munkar or mawdu' (fabricated), since 'Amr bin Bakr is "accused" (muttaham) according to Ibn Hibban, and about his son Ibrahim al-Daraqutni said that he is "matruk".
