أخبرنا أبو جعفر محمد بن علي الشَّيباني بالكوفة، حدثنا أحمد بن حازم الغِفَاري، حدثنا أبو نُعيم وأبو غسَّان قالا: حدثنا شَرِيك، عن عبد الله بن عيسى، عن عبد الله بن جَبْر، عن أنس بن مالك قال: كان غلامٌ يهوديٌّ يَحْدُمُ النبيَّ ﷺ، فمرِضَ الغلام، فأتاه النبي يعوده فقال: يا غلامُ، أسلِمْ، قُلْ: لا إله إلَّا اللهُ، فجعل الغلامُ ينظُرُ إلى أبيه، فقال له أبوه: قُلْ ما يقولُ لك محمدٌ ﷺ فقال: لا إله إلَّا اللهُ، وأسلمَ فمات، فقال رسول الله ﷺ لأصحابه: "صَلُّوا عليه". وصلَّى عليه النبيُّ ﷺ (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Jewish boy used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He fell ill, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit him and said to him: "O boy, accept Islam and say: 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no god but Allah)." The boy began looking at his father (for permission). His father said: "Say what Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is telling you." So he recited the testimony of faith and accepted Islam, and then he died. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions: "Offer the funeral prayer over your (this Muslim) brother," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) himself led his funeral prayer.
