Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 798

حدثنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا أبو المثنَّى، حدثنا مُسدَّد، حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد، حدثنا قُدَامة بن عبد الله العامري قال: حدثتني جَسْرة بنت دِجَاجة قالت: سمعت أبا ذرٍّ يقول: قام النبيُّ ﷺ بآيةٍ حتى أصبحَ يردِّدها، والآية ﴿إِنْ تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ وَإِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ﴾ [المائدة: 118] (1).
هذا حديث صحيح، ولم يُخرجاه.

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spent the whole night repeating a single verse until morning came, and that verse was: "If You punish them, they are Your servants; and if You forgive them, then indeed You are the Almighty, the All-Wise."
This hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: Because of Qudamah (bin Abd Allah) and Jasrah (bint Dajajah), this chain is "hasan".
وأخرجه أحمد 35/ (21495) و (21538)، وابن ماجه (1350)، والنسائي (1084) و (11096) من طريق يحيى بن سعيد - وهو القطان - بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it in 35/(21495) and (21538), Ibn Majah at (1350) and al-Nasa'i at (1084) and (11096) via Yahya bin Sa'id al-Qattan with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد (21328) و (21388) من طريقين عن قدامة العامري، به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it at (21328) and (21388) via two routes from Qudamah al-Amiri.
