Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7975

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib that some women came to the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). She asked: Who are you? They said: From the people of Hims. She asked: Are you the ones of the bathhouses? They asked: Is there any harm in it? Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Any woman who takes off her clothes anywhere other than her own house, Allah Almighty removes His covering from her."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Sahih li-ghayrihi.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its chain is weak because "al-Sa'ib" (the freedman of Umm Salamah) is majhul (unknown). Darraj Abu al-Samh is alone in narrating from him, and Darraj himself is not a very strong narrator.
Important point: In this story the "mahfuz" (most correct) narration is that same hadith of A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) which has already passed.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it (44/ 26569) by the route of Ibn Lahi'ah, via Darraj, with this same chain.
