Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7974

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when some women from the people of Syria came to her, she asked: Are you the ones who enter the bathhouses? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any woman who takes off her clothes anywhere other than her own house tears the veil of modesty that exists between her and Allah."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Like the hadith before it, this one is also sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All the narrators of this chain are thiqah except Abd al-Rahman bin al-Hasan, the shaykh of the author (al-Hakim); he is weak, but he has been corroborated.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (42/ 25407) and Abu Dawud (4010) narrated it by the route of Muhammad bin Ja'far, and al-Tirmidhi (2803) by the route of Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi; both of them transmit it via Shu'bah bin al-Hajjaj with this same chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam Ahmad, in his narration, mentioned Hajjaj bin Muhammad together with Muhammad bin Ja'far, but Hajjaj bin Muhammad did not explicitly name "Abu al-Malih" in his narration; rather he used the words "from a man".
