Abu al-Malih narrates that some women from the people of Syria came to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). She asked: Perhaps you are from the region whose women enter the bathhouses? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Any woman who takes off her clothes anywhere other than her husband's house has torn the veil that exists between her and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Note / Clarification: The narrator Ishaq bin Ibrahim means al-Dabari, and Mansur means Mansur bin al-Mu'tamir. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it (42/ 25408 and 25627) via Abd al-Razzaq with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (3750) narrated it by the route of Waki', via Sufyan al-Thawri. Reference / Source: Imam Abu Dawud (4010) narrated it by the route of Jarir bin Abd al-Hamid, via Mansur bin al-Mu'tamir, that Salim said: Some women came in to A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her)... (the full hadith). Technical note / Defect ('illah): In this route there is no mention of Abu al-Malih. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (40/ 24140) likewise narrated it by the route of al-A'mash, via Salim, from A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Reference / Source: A similar narration was narrated by Imam Ahmad (43/ 26304) by the route of Yazid bin Abi Ziyad, via Ata' bin Abi Rabah, that some women of Hims came... (the full hadith). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yazid bin Abi Ziyad is a weak narrator. (8788). Note / Clarification: See the details that follow and the hadiths coming later at nos. (7978) and (8788).
