حدثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدثنا السَّري بن خُزيمة، حدثنا سليمان بن داود الهاشمي، حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن أبي الزِّناد، عن موسى بن عُقبة، عن أبي الزُّبير عن جابر قال: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يَنهَى أن يُباشِرَ الرجلُ الرجلَ في ثوب واحد، والمرأةُ المرأةَ في ثوب واحد (3).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbidding that two men should lie together in a single cloth with their bodies touching (without any barrier), and likewise that two women should lie together in a single cloth with their bodies touching.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(3) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل عبد الرحمن بن أبي الزناد.
Grading: Sahih li-ghayrihi (authentic due to supporting evidence).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is of "hasan" level on account of 'Abd al-Rahman bin Abi al-Zinad.
وأخرجه أحمد 23/ (15248) عن سليمان بن داود الهاشمي بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in his Musnad (23/ 15248) by way of Sulayman bin Dawud al-Hashimi, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد (14836) و (15184) من طريقين عن ابن أبي الزناد، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad also narrated it in two other places (14836 and 15184) by way of Ibn Abi al-Zinad.
وأخرجه أحمد أيضًا (14753) و (14754) من طريق ابن لهيعة، عن أبي الزبير قال: سألت جابرًا عن الرجل يباشر الرجل … فذكره. وانظر ما بعده.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in (14753 and 14754) by way of Ibn Lahi'ah, who reports from Abu al-Zubayr that he said: I asked Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about a man who has bodily contact with another man (i.e. skin to skin) … (the full hadith).

Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is also supported by the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), which will come after the next hadith.

Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), found in Sahih Muslim (338), is also a supporting report (shahid) for it.
