حدثنا أبو الحسن محمد بن علي بن بكر .... [عن عبد الله بن بكر] الشَّهمي (1)، حدثنا أبو يونس حاتم بن أبي صَغِيرة، عن سِمَاك بن حرب، عن أبي صالح مولى أم هانئ، عن أم هانئ: أنها سألت رسولَ الله ﷺ قالت: قلتُ: يا رسولَ الله، أرأيتَ قول الله ﵎: ﴿وَتَأْتُونَ فِي نَادِيكُمُ الْمُنْكَرَ﴾ [العنكبوت: 29]، ما كان ذلك المنكر الذي كانوا يأتونه؟ قال: "كانوا يَسْخرُون بأهل الطريقِ ويَخْذِفُونهم" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) that she asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about the words of Allah, "And you commit evil in your gatherings", what that evil was. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They used to mock the passers-by and pelt them with pebbles."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) وقع في نسخنا الخطية: حدثنا أبو الحسن محمد بن علي بن بكر السهمي، وهو خطأ، والصواب أنَّ الذي يروي عن حاتم بن أبي صغيرة هو عبد الله بن بكر السهمي، وبينه وبين أبي الحسن شيخ راوٍ لم نتبينه. وانظر "إتحاف المهرة". (23302).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Our manuscripts have "Abu al-Hasan Muhammad bin 'Ali bin Bakr al-Sahmi", which is wrong; the correct position is that the one who narrates from Hatim bin Abi Saghirah is "'Abdullah bin Bakr al-Sahmi", and between him and Abu al-Hasan there is a narrating shaykh whom we could not identify. See further: "Ithaf al-Maharah" (23302).
(2) إسناده ضعيف لضعف أبي صالح مولى أم هانئ، واسمه باذام، ويقال: باذان.
Grading: Its chain is weak because it contains Abu Salih, the mawla of Umm Hani', whose name is Badham (or Badhan), and he is a weak narrator.
وأخرجه الترمذي (3190) عن محمود بن غيلان، عن أبي أسامة حماد بن أسامة وعبد الله بن بكر السهمي، بهذا الإسناد. وقال: حديث حسن، إنما نعرفه من حديث حاتم عن سماك.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (3190) narrated it through the chain of Mahmud bin Ghaylan from Abu Usamah Hammad bin Usamah and 'Abdullah bin Bakr al-Sahmi.
Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi says: "This hadith is hasan, and we know it only from the narration of Hatim from Simak."
وسلف الحديث برقم (3579) من طريق أبي أسامة وحده عن ابن أبي صغيرة.
Note / Clarification: This hadith has already been narrated under number (3579) by way of Abu Usamah alone from Ibn Abi Saghirah.
