Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7916

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most detested name in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be that of a man who named himself malik al-amlak (King of Kings)." Sufyan said: When the non-Arabs honour their king, they call him 'Shahan Shah', which means 'King of Kings'.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. This is because a group of Sufyan's students narrated it from him with his chain from Abu Hurayrah as a marfu' report (attributed to the Prophet).
