أخبرنا عبد الصمد بن علي البزَّاز ببغداد، حَدَّثَنَا حامد بن سهل، حَدَّثَنَا عمرو بن مرزوق، حَدَّثَنَا شُعبة، عن عبد ربِّه بن سعيد، عن أبي عبد الله مولى أبي موسى الأشعَري، عن سعيد بن أبي الحسن قال: كنَّا في بيتٍ في شهادةٍ فدخل علينا أبو بَكْرةَ، فقام إليه رجلٌ عن مجلسِه، فقال أبو بكرةَ: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "لا يقيمُ الرجلُ الرجلَ من مجلسِه ثم يَقعُدُ فيه، ولا تَمسَحْ يدَك بثَوبِ من لا تَملِكُ" (2). قد اتَّفق الشيخان على حديث القِيام (1)، ولم يُخرجا حديث الثّوب، وهو صحيح الإسناد.

Sa'id bin Abi al-Hasan narrates: We were in a house for (giving) testimony when Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) entered, and a man stood up from his place for him. Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man should not make another get up from his place and then sit there himself; and do not wipe your hand on the garment of one whom you do not own."
The two Shaykhs agreed on the hadith about sitting (after making another rise from his place), but they did not record the hadith about the garment, although it has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration.

(2) إسناده ضعيف لجهالة أبي عبد الله مولى أبي موسى الأشعري. وأخرجه أحمد (34/ 20450) و (20486)، وأبو داود (4827) من طرق عن شعبة، بهذا الإسناد.
Grading: Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This narration is weak because "Abu 'Abd Allah", the mawla of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), is majhul (unknown).
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam Ahmad (34/ 20450) and (20486), and Abu Dawud (4827), through various routes from Shu'bah, with this same chain.
وفي الباب عن ابن عمر عند أحمد (9/ 5567)، وأبي داود (4828)، وسنده ضعيف.
Grading: Da'if (weak).
Reference / Source: On this topic there is also a narration from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), found in Musnad Ahmad (9/ 5567) and Abu Dawud (4828), but its chain too is weak.
والصحيح في هذا الباب ما رواه البخاري (6269) ومسلم (2177) من حديث ابن عمر رفعه: "لا يقيم الرجلُ الرجلَ من مجلسه ثم يجلس فيه".
Grading: Sahih.
Important point: The most authentic narration on this topic is the one which Imam al-Bukhari (6269) and Muslim (2177) transmitted as marfu' from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): "A man should not make another man get up from his place and then sit in it himself."
