أخبرنا أبو الحسين علي بن عبد الرحمن بن عيسى السَّبيعي بالكوفة، حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن حازم الغِفَاري، حَدَّثَنَا مالك بن إسماعيل، حَدَّثَنَا ناصح أبو عبد الله، عن سِمَاك بن حَرْب، عن جابر بن سَمُرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "والله لأَنْ يُؤدِّبَ أحدُكم ولدَه، خيرٌ له من أن يتصدَّق كلَّ يوم بنصفِ صاعٍ" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, for one of you to give his child a good upbringing and teach him manners is better for him than giving half a sa' (of grain) in charity every day."

(1) إسناده ضعيف جدًّا، ناصح أبو عبد الله قال الذهبي في "التلخيص": هالك.
Grading: Its chain is "da'if jiddan" (extremely weak).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrator is Nasih Abu 'Abd Allah, whom Imam al-Dhahabi declared "halik" (weak to the utmost degree) in "al-Talkhis".
وأخرجه أحمد (34/ 20900) و (20970) عن علي بن ثابت الجزري، والترمذي (1951) من طريق يحيى بن يعلى كلاهما عن ناصح، بهذا الإسناد. وقال الترمذي: غريب.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam Ahmad (34/ 20900, 20970) from 'Ali bin Thabit al-Jazari and Imam al-Tirmidhi (1951) through the route of Yahya bin Ya'la, both from Nasih, with this same chain.
Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "gharib".
