It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Satan said: O my Lord, by Your might, as long as the souls of Your servants remain in their bodies, I will keep leading them astray. So the Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, said: By My might and My majesty, as long as they keep asking Me for forgiveness, I will keep forgiving them."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is "hasan". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although its chain is da'if on account of Darraj bin Sam'an, he has been corroborated. Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it at (17/ 11237) and (18/ 11729) via Ibn Lahi'ah, from Darraj. Reference / Source: Ahmad (17/ 11367) narrated it via al-Layth bin Sa'd, from Yazid bin al-Had, from Amr bin Abi Amr the freed slave of al-Muttalib, from Abu Sa'id. Technical note / Defect ('illah): All its narrators are thiqah, but Amr's hearing from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) is not established (there is a break). Grading: By the combination of these two routes this hadith reaches the level of "hasan", in sha' Allah. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The meaning of this narration is also supported by the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) (7800), which is in al-Bukhari and Muslim.
