It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) related that al-Ruh al-Amin told him: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has decreed that on the Day of Resurrection a servant's deeds, his good deeds and his bad deeds, will be brought, then they will be settled against one another; so if even a single good deed remains for him, Allah will make room for him in Paradise as much as He wills." Al-Hakam bin Aban says: I came to Abu Salamah Yazdad and asked him: What if the good deeds are used up and nothing remains? He said: Recite from "Those are the ones from whom We accept the best of what they did" up to "which they had been promised" [Surah al-Ahqaf: 16].
