Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7814

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you did not commit sins, Allah Almighty would bring a people who would commit sins, and Allah would forgive them."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it, and the hadith of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) is a supporting witness (shahid) for it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts the word here has been distorted and wrongly written as "Hujayr".

Grading: This hadith is "sahih".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Because of the narrator Darraj Abu al-Samh, its chain is "hasan" within corroborating chains and supporting reports. "Ibn Hujayrah" mentioned in the chain is "'Abd al-Rahman al-Khawlani".
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in (volume 13, hadith number 8082) and Imam Muslim in (2749) with the chain Yazid bin al-Asamm from Abu Hurayrah as marfu', that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, if you did not sin, Allah would take you away and bring a people who sin and then seek Allah's forgiveness, and He would forgive them."
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (8043 and 8044) and Ibn Hibban (7387) narrated it (within a lengthy hadith) via Abu al-Mudillah, the mawla of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), from Abu Hurayrah, with similar wording. This narration is also found in Imam al-Tirmidhi (2526), but there an error and a break (inqita') have occurred in its chain.
