حدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن داود بن سليمان الزَّاهد، حدثنا علي بن الحسين ابن الجُنَيد الرازي، حدثنا محمد بن عيسى، حدثنا سَلَمة بن الفضل، حدثني محمد ابن إسحاق، عن يحيى بن سعيد الأنصاري، عن سعيد بن المسيّب، حدثني عمرو ابن العاص، أنَّه سمع رسولَ الله ﷺ يقول: "كلُّ ابنِ آدمَ يأتي يومَ القيامة وله ذنبٌ إِلَّا ما كان من يحيى بن زكريا" قال: ثم دلى رسول الله ﷺ بيده إلى الأرض فأخذ عُوَيدًا صغيرًا، ثم قال: "وذلك أنَّه لم يكُنْ له ما للرجالِ إلَّا مثلُ هذا العُودِ، وبذلك سمَّاه الله سيِّدًا وحَصُورًا ونبيًّا من الصالحين" (3).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Every child of Adam will come on the Day of Resurrection having some sin or other, except Yahya bin Zakariyya (peace be upon him)." The narrator says: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand towards the ground and picked up a small twig, and said: "That is because he did not have what men have (of virility) except the like of this twig, and for this reason Allah Almighty called him 'a master, hasur (restrained from desires), and a prophet from among the righteous.'"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(3) خبر مضطرب الإسناد، رجاله لا بأس بهم، لكن اختُلف على يحيى بن سعيد ثم على سعيد ابن المسيب في رفعه ووقفه ووصله وإرساله كما سلف بيانه في الرواية (3451). محمد بن عيسى: هو ابن زياد الدامغاني، وسلمة بن الفضل: هو الأبرش.
Grading: This report is "mudtarib al-isnad" (severely confused in its chain).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although there is no harm in its narrators themselves, there is a strong difference on Yahya bin Sa'id and then, further up, on Sa'id bin al-Musayyab as to whether this narration is marfu', mawquf, mawsul or mursal, as detailed earlier at narration number (3451). Muhammad bin 'Isa in the chain is "Muhammad bin 'Isa bin Ziyad al-Damghani", and Salamah bin al-Fadl is "Salamah bin al-Fadl al-Abrash".
