It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Truthful and the one confirmed as truthful (peace and blessings be upon him) told us, narrating from his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, that Allah Almighty said: "A good deed is rewarded tenfold, or I will increase it even more; and an evil deed is recompensed with a single sin like it, or I will forgive it. And if you were to meet Me with an earthful of sins, provided that you had not associated anything with Me, I would meet you with forgiveness just as great."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it with this wording.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name has been distorted (a scribal error) into "Maysarah".
Grading: This hadith is sahih, and this chain of it is "hasan" because of 'Asim bin Bahdalah, who also has corroboration (mutaba'ah). Important point: Abu Yahya is "'Abd Allah bin Ahmad bin Zakariyya bin Abi Masarrah". Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in "al-Musnad" 35/ (21315) by way of 'Affan bin Muslim, from Hammam bin Yahya al-'Awdhi, with this same chain. Details of the narration: Imam Ahmad narrated the second part of it in abridged form in (21316) and (21377) by way of Abu 'Awanah al-Yashkuri, and in (21565) by way of Shayban al-Nahwi; both of them narrate it from 'Asim bin Bahdalah. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Likewise, Imam Ahmad (21311) narrated it by way of Rib'i bin Hirash, and Imam Ibn Hibban (226) by way of 'Abd al-'Aziz bin Rufay'; both of them narrate it from al-Ma'rur bin Suwayd. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (21360, 21488), Imam Muslim (2687) and Imam Ibn Majah (3821) narrated it with both parts, similar to the narration of the author (al-Hakim), by way of al-A'mash, from al-Ma'rur bin Suwayd. Technical note / Defect ('illah): The author's (al-Hakim's) inclusion of it here as a supplement (istidrak) is an "oversight" (dhuhul) on his part (because it already exists in authoritative collections). (7816). Details of the narration: Imam Ahmad narrated the second part of this narration in (21368) by way of Shahr bin Hawshab from 'Abd al-Rahman bin Ghanm, and in (21472, 21505, 21506) by way of Shahr bin Hawshab from Ma'dikarib; both of them narrate it from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him). Reference / Source: Further detail will come later at hadith number (7816).
