Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 778

It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began the prayer, he would raise his hands to the level of his shoulders and then say these words: 'Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, wa tabaraka ismuka, wa ta'ala jadduka, wa la ilaha ghayruka' (O Allah, You are free of all imperfection, with Your praise; Your name is blessed, Your majesty is exalted, and there is no god besides You).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) and its narrators are trustworthy, although the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This narration is "hasan li-ghayrihi".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is weak because of Harithah bin Muhammad (who is Harithah bin Abi al-Rijal).
Important point: "Abu Mu'awiyah" in the chain is Muhammad bin Khazim al-Darir.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (806) and al-Tirmidhi (243) narrated it via various routes from Abu Mu'awiyah. For more information see the preceding discussion.

General principle: This means that major imams such as Abu Mu'awiyah, Sufyan al-Thawri, Yahya bin Abi Za'idah and others narrated from him (Harithah), but according to the experts of hadith science merely narrating from a shaykh is not proof of his being declared trustworthy (tawthiq); that is why the imams are agreed on his weakness.
