Grading: Its chain is weak. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Most of the imams graded al-Rabi' bin Habib as weak. About Nawfal bin 'Abd al-Malik, Imam Ibn Ma'in said that he is "nothing" (laysa bi-shay'), and Imam Abu Hatim declared him majhul. Reference / Source: Imam Ibn Majah narrated it (hadith number 2206) by way of 'Ali bin Muhammad and Sahl bin Abi Sahl, from 'Ubayd Allah bin Musa, with this same chain. Note / Clarification: Regarding "the prohibition of bargaining (sawm) over goods before sunrise", al-Suyuti says in his commentary on "Sunan Ibn Majah" that this is the time for the remembrance of Allah, so one should not busy oneself with anything else during it. Another view is that it relates to grazing camels, because if they graze before sunrise, while there is dew (moisture) on the pasture, they may be struck by an epidemic disease that can lead to their death.
