Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts the word here has been corrupted and written as "ghanam".
Grading: This report is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy) except Abu Qilabah (Abd al-Malik bin Muhammad bin Abd Allah al-Raqashi); there is no harm in him as such, but his memory changed after he came to Baghdad, so the narrations of the Baghdadis from him contain errors, and this narration is one of them.
Important point: Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah narrated it from 'Amr bin Dinar, via Jabir bin Zayd (Abu al-Sha'tha'), from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, and this route is more authentic.
Reference / Source: Abd al-Razzaq (8548), al-Humaydi (al-Matalib al-'Aliyah: 2319), Sa'id bin Mansur (Sunan: 914), al-Daraqutni (4805) and al-Bayhaqi (9/239, 239-240) narrated it via routes from Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah, via 'Amr bin Dinar, Jabir Abu al-Sha'tha' and 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas.
Grading: Ibn Hajar declared its chain sahih in "Fath al-Bari" (17/53).
Reference / Source: Abd al-Razzaq (8538) narrated it via Ma'mar, Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani and 'Ikrimah from Ibn 'Abbas.
Important point: Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "'Muslim' is one of the names of Allah; so if one of you forgets to say Bismillah when slaughtering, let him mention the name of Allah (afterwards) and eat."
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Reference / Source: Abd al-Razzaq (8541), Sa'id bin Mansur (915) and al-Bayhaqi (9/240) narrated it via Yazid bin Abi Ziyad, from 'Ata' bin Abi Rabah, from Ibn 'Abbas.
Grading: Yazid bin Abi Ziyad is a weak narrator.
Reference / Source: Malik narrated it in "al-Muwatta'" (in the recension of Abu Mus'ab al-Zuhri: 2142) via Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari, that Ibn 'Abbas was asked about someone who forgets to say Bismillah, and he said: let him mention the name of Allah and eat; there is no harm in it.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy), but the chain is munqati' (broken) between Yahya and Ibn 'Abbas.
Reference / Source: Al-Daraqutni (4808) and al-Bayhaqi (9/239) narrated it via Muhammad bin Yazid bin Sinan from Ibn 'Abbas as marfu': "His name (Islam) suffices the Muslim; if he forgets to mention the name when slaughtering, let him mention the name of Allah and eat it."
Grading: The chain is da'if (weak) because of Ibn Sinan, and moreover by narrating it as marfu' he contradicted the other narrators.
