حدثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ حدثنا يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى بن يحيى الشهيد ﵀، حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن المبارك العايشي، حدثنا حماد بن زيد، عن عاصم، عن عِكْرمة، عن عبد الله بن عباس: أنَّ رجلًا أَضجَعَ شَاةً يريدُ أن يذبحها وهو يَحُدُّ شَفْرتَه، فقال النبيُّ ﷺ: "أتريدُ أن تُمِيتَها مَوْتاتٍ، هلَّا حَدَدْتَ شَفْرتَك قبل أن تُضجِعَها؟! " (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط البخاري، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man had laid a goat down in order to slaughter it, and he was sharpening his knife (in that state). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you want to make it die many deaths? Why did you not sharpen your knife before laying it down?!"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح. عاصم: هو ابن سليمان الأحول.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Asim in the chain is 'Asim bin Sulayman al-Ahwal.

وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" (11916)، وفي "الأوسط" (3590)، والبيهقي 9/ 280، والضياء في "المختارة" 12/ (174) من طريق عبد الرحيم بن سليمان الرازي، عن عاصم الأحول، بهذا الإسناد. وقال الطبراني عقبه في "الأوسط": لم يصل هذا الحديث عن عاصم عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس إلّا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان، تفرد به يوسف بن عدي!
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Kabir" (11916) and "al-Awsat" (3590), al-Bayhaqi (9/280) and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi in "al-Mukhtarah" (12/174) via Abd al-Rahim bin Sulayman al-Razi from 'Asim al-Ahwal, with this same chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): After it, al-Tabarani said in "al-Awsat" that no one narrated this hadith as connected (mawsul) via 'Asim, 'Ikrimah and Ibn 'Abbas except Abd al-Rahim bin Sulayman, and Yusuf bin 'Adi is alone in narrating it from him!
وأخرجه عبد الرزاق (8608) عن معمر، عن عاصم الأحول، عن عكرمة: أنَّ النبي ﷺ رأى رجلًا أضجع شاة، فذكره مرسلًا.
Reference / Source: Abd al-Razzaq narrated it (8608) from Ma'mar, from 'Asim al-Ahwal, from 'Ikrimah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man who had laid a goat down; he narrated it as mursal (without mentioning the Companion).
وانظر حديث ابن عمر في "مسند أحمد" 10/ (5864).
