It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he sacrificed two rams, one ram on behalf of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and one on his own behalf, and said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded me to sacrifice on his behalf, so I will always keep sacrificing on his behalf.
This hadith has an authentic chain (sahih al-isnad), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it, and Abu al-Hasna' who appears in its chain is in fact al-Hasan bin al-Hakam al-Nakha'i.

Grading: Its chain is very weak. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Sharik bin Abd Allah al-Nakha'i has a poor memory, and he is alone in narrating from Abu al-Hasna', who is majhul (unknown). Moreover, Hanash bin al-Mu'tamir is also a weak narrator. Reference / Source: Ahmad (2/843), Abu Dawud (2790), al-Tirmidhi (1495) and Abd Allah bin Ahmad narrated it via Sharik al-Nakha'i. Technical note / Defect ('illah): According to both al-Tirmidhi and al-Bukhari, Sharik is alone in this narration. The corroboration mentioned on the authority of 'Ali bin al-Madini in the Egyptian printed edition of Jami' al-Tirmidhi is not found in the old reliable manuscripts, and it also contradicts the statement of al-Bukhari. Important point: The fact is that Ma'mar, Sufyan al-Thawri and Shu'bah narrated it via Abu Ishaq as the practice of 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) himself (mawquf), and did not attribute it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as marfu'.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): No one other than the author identified Abu al-Hasna' as "al-Hasan bin al-Hakam al-Nakha'i". According to al-Bukhari and Ibn Khirash, Abu al-Hasna' is unknown. The imams of narrator criticism (al-Bukhari, Ibn Abi Hatim and others) wrote biographies of al-Hasan bin al-Hakam, but none of them called him "Abu al-Hasna'", nor did those who mentioned Abu al-Hasna' identify him as al-Hasan bin al-Hakam.
