Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7714

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Fatimah, stand by your sacrificial animal and witness it (being slaughtered), for with the first drop of its blood that falls, all your past sins will be forgiven. And say: 'Indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. He has no partner; with this I have been commanded, and I am of the Muslims' [Surah al-An'am: 162-163]." Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, is this virtue specifically for you and your household, or is it general for all Muslims?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather it is general for all Muslims."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. And its supporting narration (shahid) is the hadith of Atiyyah narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him).

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Hamzah al-Thumali (whose name is Thabit bin Abi Safiyyah) is a weak narrator, and al-Dhahabi pointed out this defect in "al-Talkhis" for this reason. He also said of al-Nadr bin Isma'il that he is not up to the mark (laysa bi-dhak).
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Ruyani in his "Musnad" (138), al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (18/ 600), "al-Awsat" (2509) and "al-Du'a'" (947), Ibn Adi in "al-Kamil" (7/ 26), and al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (5/ 238 - 239, 9/ 283) and other books, through routes from al-Nadr bin Isma'il al-Bajali.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Tabarani says that this narration is reported from Imran bin Husayn only with this chain and that Abu Hamzah is alone in it. Al-Bayhaqi says that this narration from Imran is found only through this one route and that it is not strong.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also a narration from Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), found in Abd bin Humayd (78) and al-Bayhaqi (9/ 283), but its chain is very weak and of no use.

Note / Clarification: In this regard, see the hadith of Abu Sa'id coming next and the hadith of Jabir that passed at no. (1734).
