Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi'ah narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you sees in himself or in his brother something that pleases him, let him supplicate for blessing, for the evil eye is real."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it with the mention of blessing.

Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its chain is weak because Umayyah bin Hind is majhul al-hal (of unknown condition).
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ibn Majah (3506) and al-Nasa'i (7469), (9968) and (10805) via Mu'awiyah bin Hisham, from Ammar bin Ruzayq, with this chain. Ibn Majah's narration is abridged, while al-Nasa'i's two narrations are detailed, like the author's next narration.
