Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In manuscript (S) this word is corrupted into "al-Anbari".

Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name is corrupted into "Durayd".

Note / Clarification: In manuscript (Z) a blank space is left in place of the word "al-haliq".

Grading: It is "hasan li-ghayrihi".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is weak, because Abu Hatim declared Duwayd (al-Basri) "layyin" (soft/weak), while a group narrated from Isma'il bin Thawban and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat".
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad in his Musnad 4/ (2478) and (2681) via Abd Allah bin al-Walid al-Adani, from Sufyan al-Thawri, with this chain.
Reference / Source: Ahmad also recorded it at 4/ (2477) via Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri, from Sufyan al-Thawri, from an unnamed man (rajul), from Jabir bin Zayd.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain does not mention Isma'il bin Thawban, and Duwayd's name is left unspecified (mubham).
Reference / Source: Muslim recorded (2188) via Tawus, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), as a marfu' report: "The evil eye (al-'ayn) is real, and if anything were to outstrip the divine decree, the evil eye would outstrip it."
Details of the narration: On this topic it is narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) as a marfu' report: "Indeed, the evil eye, by the permission of Allah, takes hold of a man so that he climbs a high mountain and then falls down from it."
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad 35/ (21302).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In its chain, the narrator "Mihjan", who narrates from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), is given without his lineage, and no one except Ibn Hibban declared him trustworthy.
Note / Clarification: "Al-haliq" means a high mountain.
