Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7667

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حدثنا عمرو بن عاصم الكلَابي (1)، حدثنا همّام بن يحيى وجَرير بن حازم، قالا: حدثنا قَتَادة، عن أنس بن مالك قال: كان رسولُ الله ﷺ يَحتجِمُ على الأَحْدَعَين، وكان يَحتجِمُ لسبعَ عشرةَ وتسعَ عشرةَ وإحدى وعشرين (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to have cupping done on the two veins at the sides of the neck (al-akhda'ayn), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to have cupping done on the seventeenth, nineteenth and twenty-first.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(1) تحرَّف في (ص) و (م) إلى: الكلالي، وفي (ز) إلى: الكلال.
Important point: In manuscripts (S) and (M) this word is corrupted into "al-Kalali", and in manuscript (Z) into "al-Kalal".

(2) إسناده حسن من أجل عمرو بن عاصم الكلابي.
Grading: This chain is hasan on account of Amr bin Asim al-Kilabi.
وأخرجه الترمذي (2051) عن عبد القدوس بن محمد، عن عمرو بن عاصم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Tirmidhi (2051) via Abd al-Quddus bin Muhammad, from Amr bin Asim, with this chain.
وقال: حسن غريب.
Grading: Al-Tirmidhi graded it "hasan gharib".
وأخرجه أحمد 19/ (12191) و 20/ (13001)، وأبو داود (3860)، وابن ماجه (3483)، وابن حبان (6077) من طرق عن جرير بن حازم، بذكر شطره الأول وزادوا: وعلى الكاهل.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad (19/ 12191 and 20/ 13001), Abu Dawud (3860), Ibn Majah (3483) and Ibn Hibban (6077) through routes from Jarir bin Hazim, with its first part, and they added "al-kahil" (the upper back between the shoulders).
وأخرج ابن حبان (3486) من طريق النهاس بن قهم، عن أنس رفعه: "من أراد الحجامة، فليتحرَّ سبعة عشر، أو تسعة عشر، أو إحدى وعشرين، ولا يتبيَّغ بأحدكم الدم فيقتله"، وسنده مسلسل بالضعفاء.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban recorded (3486) via al-Nahhas bin Qahm, from Anas, as a marfu' report: "Whoever wants to be cupped, let him seek the seventeenth, the nineteenth or the twenty-first."
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its entire chain is made up of weak narrators.

الأخدعان: عِرقان في جانبي العنق.
