It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the night of the Ascension (Mi'raj), whichever company of angels I passed by, they said: 'O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), hold fast to hijamah (cupping).'"
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: The text between the brackets was not in the handwritten manuscripts; we have included it from Ibn Hajar's "Ithaf al-Maharah" (8603) and the other sources of takhrij.
Grading: Its chain is "very weak" (da'if jiddan). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abbad bin Mansur is weak and a mudallis, and he committed tadlis here, since he admitted that he did not hear it from Ikrimah but heard it via "Ibrahim bin Abi Yahya al-Aslami, from Dawud bin al-Husayn, from Ikrimah" (al-Uqayli 2/ 636). Abu Hatim al-Razi, in "al-Ilal" (2274), declared it "munkar" and said that the munkar narrations of Abbad are part of the juz' (booklet) he took from Ibrahim. Al-Bazzar also stated plainly that Abbad did not hear from Ikrimah. Moreover, Ibrahim bin Abi Yahya is "matruk" (abandoned) and Dawud bin al-Husayn is "da'if" specifically in narrating from Ikrimah. Reference / Source: Ahmad recorded it after hadith (3316), Ibn Majah (3477) and al-Tirmidhi under (2053), through routes from Abbad bin Mansur, from Ikrimah. Al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan gharib". Details of the narration: This hadith will come again with the author (al-Hakim) later at number (8458) by way of Abbad bin Mansur. Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (11367) by way of Nafi' Abu Hurmuz, from Ata', from Ibn Abbas. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Nafi' Abu Hurmuz is a "matruk" narrator, and Ibn Hibban said that he narrated a "fabricated" (mawdu') copy via Ata'. 5/ (3316). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The meaning of this hadith is also narrated from other Companions, but there is weakness in their chains; we mentioned them and discussed them in the "Musnad Ahmad" 5/ (3316).
